Cypriot theatre scholar, Dr. Apostolos Apostolides, theatre director affiliated with the International University Theatre Association (IUTA) of the UNESCO International Theatre Institute (ITI), visited Iligan last March 22 and 23 to document the training pedagogy of the Institute’s Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG).

Apostolides is part of an international team documenting materials from all over the world for inclusion in a book on theatre pedagogy that will be distributed worldwide.

The request to have the ITI document the IPAG was relayed to IPAG Director Dr. Steven Patrick C. Fernandez by IUTA Philippine Director Nick Lizaso after the team screened all possible pedagogies and found the IPAG’s worthy of study.

The visit allowed Apostolides first-hand data from the regular training courses currently conducted.

The visit also opened opportunities for the Institute theatre company to engage in collaborations with their Cypriot and European counterparts in the exchange of pedagogies (through Master Classes), the mounting of productions, and participation in ITI festivals.

The UNESCO-ITI is based in Paris, France.
