About Us

The College of Economics, Business and Accountancy (CEBA) is the pioneer college of MSU-IIT tracing its humble beginnings in circa 1964 with MSU extension classes of BSBA, major in Accounting as its lone degree offering. Today, after more than 50 years, it has expanded its programs to include:

This quality is supported by a carefully planned and designed teaching and learning experience for students, an aggressive faculty development program, adequate facilities, and other learning resources, and a commendable governance and management systems in place.

CEBA remains steadfast in its efforts to contribute to the wellbeing of its immediate and the national community through relevant research that is responsive to national research thrusts and sustainable development goals. Some of these research initiatives include its yearly engagement with the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index project, a market validation study of an innovation for monitoring reproductive conditions of women, and contributing to World Bank Philippines’s Mindanao Jobs Report project, among others. The faculty of CEBA is also active in sharing research results by participating in national and international research conferences and forums.

In addition, CEBA has been actively involved in promoting entrepreneurship competency development among local micro, small, and medium enterprises. It has strong linkages with the Department of Trade and Industry – Provincial Office, the Local Government of Iligan, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan, Inc., and various industries and has been recognized as an able partner in their capability building initiatives.

While it may be one of the smallest academic units in the university, CEBA continues to pursue excellence as it journeys toward the next 50 years.

Our Programs

The different undergraduate programs of CASS aim to develop graduates who are change-makers and demonstrate the Institute core values of commitment, excellence, teamwork, integrity, accountability, transparency, and participation.

At present, the College of Arts and Social Sciences offers ten undergraduate degree programs, two of these are Bachelor of Science degree programs. Its BA in History program offers two tracks: the Philippine-Asian History Track and the International History Track.

Accountancy

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy

The program prepares students for a professional career in Accounting and related fields. The curriculum aims to capacitate students with theoretical and functional competencies to take the Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountants and other professional certifications.

Bachelor of Science in Economics

This new program offering is designed to produce graduates with a strong grasp of economic theory and the ability to apply economic principles in the analysis of economic phenomena in various areas of the economic discipline.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Business Economics

This a newly revised applied economics curriculum which is designed to strengthen student’s understanding and appreciation of economic theories, develop their managerial skills, and enhance their knowledge in the use of mathematical or quantitative tools required in business analysis and decision-making.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management

The BSBA major in Marketing Management is a four-year degree program designed to keep up with the demands of the local and the international business environment. It aims to produce a globally competitive graduate who can apply the basic concepts of the functional areas of business (marketing, finance, human resources management, production, and operations management, information technology, and strategic management) and employ these concepts in various business situations.

Bachelor of Science major in Entrepreneurship

The BS in Entrepreneurship program is envisioned to provide entrepreneurial career opportunities to students by possibly continuing and growing the businesses they have started while in the program. This offers students the chance to contribute to the economy by creating jobs for others.

A terminal requirement to earn the degree is a one-year actual hands-on business experience that provides graduating students the opportunity to put up their own micro-enterprise, raise capital, engage in production, market their products/services, and manage their human and financial resources. So, students do not only learn but also earn.

Hospitality & Tourism Management

Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management

The BS Hospitality Management is a four-year degree program designed to be compliant to the Trifocalization on the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Education (DepEd), and Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA), merging requirements to establish a flexible, dynamic and strategic development in the Hospitality and Tourism Industries.
