Nine faculty members of the College of Education (CEd), College of Engineering (COE), and from the College of Arts & Social Sciences (CASS) will attend a meeting, a festival, and present papers in various local and international conferences early this year.
From CED, a student Ms. Shela H. Albarico is attending the International Conference on Law, Education and Humanities (ICLEH’14) in Pattaya, Thailand on January 30-31, 2014.
The Dean of the COE, Prof. Edgar Alan A. Donasco is attending the ERDT’s 39th Steering Committee at the Central Luzon State University, Science City, Munoz, Nueva Ecija on February 4, 2014.
From CASS, seven faculty members leave for Thailand and Japan to present their papers.
Ms. Fatimah Joy S. Almarez and Dr. Christine Godinez Ortega of the Department of English are presenting papers during the Philippine International Studies Conference at Kyoto University with their colleagues Dr. Hope Sabanpan Yu, Faculty and Director of the Cebuano Studies Center of the University San Carlos and Dr. Victorio N. Sugbo, Chair of the Humanities Division, UP College Tacloban.
Almarez will present her paper entitled “The State of Multi-Ethnic Literature in Northern Mindanao” while Ortega will present her paper entitled “New Ways in the Storytelling of the epic Ulahingan’s Kepu’un pu’un (The Creation)“.
As Head of the National Commission for Culture and Arts-National Committee on Literary Arts and during the celebration of Arts Month in February, Ortega, the Taboan 4 2013 Festival Director will likewise attend the Philippine International Writers Festival: Taboan 5 in Subic, Pampanga along with other delegates representing Central Mindanao: Edgar Godin, Associate Editor of Bisaya Magazine; and Sebuano novelist Telesforo Sungkit, Jr. of Bukidnon; AB English third year student, Floraime Pantaleta of Iligan City, and writer Dr. Rebekah Marohombsar Alawi, Dean of the Mindanao State University (MSU) School of Graduate Studies for Marawi City.
On the other hand, the five faculty members from the CASS’s Sociology Department who are leaving for Thailand on February 15-16, 2014 to present their papers during the 12th Asia Pacific Sociological Association Conference are: Prof. Christian T.N. Aguado, Mr. Renebel O. Labadisos; Dr. Sulpecia L. Ponce; Prof. Amabelle A. Embornas; and, Dr. Liwayway S. Viloria.
Meanwhile, the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) recently conducted its 4th SGS Research Colloquium at the Bulwagang Filipino, CASS and at the AV Rooms, CEd on January 29-30, 2014 with MSU-IIT’s 48 graduate and post graduate student-presenters representing various disciplines. CGO for OC-OPI
