The 41st MSU-IIT Charter Day celebration program held last July 12, 2009 gave due recognition to the employees (faculty and staff) who have conscientiously served the institute for 20, 25, 30 and 35 years. Among the few awardees who received the Mangkuno Award were from the College of Education: Dr. Myrna Encabo Lahoylahoy Prof. Virginia Amila Sombilon and Dr. Fe Israel Destura. They have loyally served MSU-IIT for 35 years since they were hired as part of the faculty force of the Developmental High School (now Integrated Developmental School) in 1974. As senior faculty members of the Department of Science and Mathematics Education (DSME) and Department of Home Technology Education (DHTE) respectively, Ma’am Myrna, Ma’am Gie and Ma’am Fe find teaching as a lifetime commitment, a noble mission.
