The 1st Gorontalo International Nursing Conference was slated on March 16-17, 2017 with the theme: “Nursing as the Key to Improve Quality of Care through Patient safety and Achieving the Standards of the National and International Hospital Accreditation” at Maqna Hotel, Gorontalo, Indonesia organized by the Sports and Health Faculty School of Nursing, Gorontalo State University in Gorontalo, Indonesia.

Martin among the keynote speakers presented his paper on “Nurse Preparation towards the ASEAN Economic Community Era,” during the opening ceremonies. On the second day, Martin facilitated a workshop on “Leadership in Disaster Response” among conference participants. Prior to the conference dates, Martin was invited and rendered Public lecture on “Communicating Research Findings” with nursing students of the host university. Martin was given the chance to tour around Gorontalo’s 600-bed capacity Government Hospital and was invited to speak among Nursing Division Heads on “Positive Practice Environment.” Martin said, “My travel to Indonesia was enriching and engaging.” Furthermore, he added that, “I marvelled Gorontalo Indonesia’s history, culture and the arts.” “I am awed with their religiosity and hospitality as I connect their nursing care practices and aspirations for a healthy Indonesia.” “I am hopeful that the MOU will soon be established with Gorontalo State University of Indonesia for future collaboration.”
