The Institute’s Technology Application and Promotions Unit (TAPU) is giving livelihood trainings to women residents of barangays in Iligan City throughout the year 2016.

Making full use of three centers – the Bamboo Technology Resource Center (BTRC), Ceramic Training Center (CTC), and Appropriate Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) – that are under its control, the TAPU concentrates its livelihood trainings on bamboo and ceramics/pottery products.

This September 12-23, 2016, the TAPU is giving training on Production of Bamboo Products to the women of Deus Caritas Livelihood Association.

A training on Bamboo Charcoal Production was conducted for women beneficiaries from Barangay Pugaan that ran from March to June earlier in the year.

A five-day Basic Pottery Training is set in October for the women of three barangays – Dalipuga, Buruun, and Ma. Cristina.

A skills upgrading training will also be given in December to the BTRC’s staff that aims to strengthen their bamboo processing skills.

Another December date is also set for the TAPU’s own staff members and selected personnel from its mother unit – the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE), to participate in the Empowered Trainer’s Development Program: Techniques Designs and Tips in Handling Effective Trainings and workshops.

The TAPU is the marketing and promotion arm of the OVCRE in the transfer and commercialization of appropriate technologies.

It is headed by Marietta Esperanza P. Cruz who leads the members of the TAPU in building up the expertise and capabilities of stakeholders through trainings and the giving of technical assistance.
