The Department of Research (DR) opened this morning its two-day Policy Brief Writing Workshop that will run from October 13 to 14 at the Institute Boardroom.

The workshop, although open to all interested faculty researchers in the campus, is conducted primarily for researchers involved in the Lake Lanao Research Program.

The Lake Lanao research is a multi-study project that is undertaken under a National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Grants-in-Aid (GIA) research program called, Comprehensive Studies on Lake Lanao for Sustainable Development, and conducted by faculty members from MSU-IIT and MSU-Marawi.

Chancellor Sukarno D. Tanggol, who is the overall program leader of the Lake Lanao research program, gave a brief message at the workshop’s opening, while Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Dr. Jinky B. Bornales officially welcomed everyone.

According to Director for Research Dr. Franco G. Teves, the policy brief writing workshop will teach participants how to write clear and effective policy briefs that are both “appealing and digestible” to policymakers and stakeholders.

Tomorrow’s session of the workshop will show the participants how to design and layout their policy briefs.

Teves said that the workshop is an echo of the workshop he attended earlier in the month in Bicutan, Taguig that was hosted by the NRCP and the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity.
