Prof. Lowaton, an ECE faculty  and Darryll Dave Ditucalan, an ECE graduate presented their research paper at the 2016 International Conferences on Advances on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICAEESE) which was held in Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, Putrajaya, Malaysia on November 14-16, 2016.

The ICAEESE 2016 is a biennial flagship conference of the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Systems Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). ICAEESE 2016 will be co-organized with the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy and IEEE Young Professionals, Malaysia section.

On November 17-18, Lowaton and Ditucalan joined Prof. Jefferson Hora, Prof. Nieva Mapula, Prof. Mycel Capilayan, Prof. Jefrey Pasco and Prof. Rogelio Bersano together with the ECE graduates Krisha Dawn Dura, Ma. Concepcion Sabate and MSEE – Microelectronics student Re-ann Calimpusan at the 2016 Regional Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi, Vietnam.

The ASEAN University Network / Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (AUN/SEED-Net) has co-organized this regional conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering in cooperation with Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). This conference is a platform to share the recent research trends and experiences in regional common issues as well as to publicize research work of AUN/SEED-Net members.

Among the Philippine delegation, MSU-IIT has the most number of research papers presented (10) and was the largest.  UP-Diliman, De La Salle University and MSU-IIT are the only AUN/SEED-Net member institutions from the Philippines.

ECE Quiz Team bags Iligan Bay Regional Electronics Engineering Quiz Championship Title

MSU-IIT’s Electronics Engineering emerged victorious in the 2016 Bit the BEES (Best Electronics Engineering Students) Interscholastic Quiz Show Regional Eliminations during the first Junior IECEP – IBC Students Summit held on September 23, 2016 at the Institute Gym.

The winning team was composed of three BS ECE students, namely: Robert Nericua (5th year); Lemuel Fil Bañez (5th year) and Jim Darrell Ang (4th year) with Prof. Allenn Lowaton as their coach.

Participants were teams from colleges and universities offering BS Electronics Engineering program throughout the Iligan Bay area namely MSU-Marawi; La Salle University of Ozamiz City; St. Peter’s College and St. Michael’s College of Iligan City.

La Salle University – Ozamiz City and St. Peter’s College – Iligan City won runners-up in the competition.

The quiz show had three (3) rounds: easy, average and difficult. Each round had eight (8) questions. Questions, which were objective type (worth 5 points) or problem solving type (worth 15 points), were about Mathematics, General Engineering and Applied Sciences, Electronics Engineering, Electronics Systems and Technologies.

MSU-IIT will represent the Iligan Bay Chapter in the National ECE Quiz Show to be held at the Philippine Trade and Training Center, Pasay City on October 26, 2016.

MSU-IIT wins Championship title again in Regional Electronics Engineering Quiz in CDO

The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines – Northern Mindanao Chapter (IECEP-NM) held the 2015 BIT THE BEES (Best Electronics Engineering Students) Interscholastic Quiz Show Regional Elimination last September 19, 2015 at Cagayan de Oro City.

MSU-IIT has consistently aced the said competition for the past several years, had once again emerged victorious this year.

The quiz show had three (3) rounds: easy, average and difficult. Each round had eight (8) questions. Questions from Mathematics; General Engineering and Applied Sciences; Electronics Engineering; Electronics Systems and Technologies could be objective type for 5 points, or problem solving for 15 points.

MSU-IIT garnered 175 points for first place followed by Xavier University; and Mindanao University of Science and Technology as the runner-ups.

The team is comprised of the following BSECE students; Darryl Dave Ditucalan (5th year); Robert Leemar Bagundol (5th year); Ckehvin Madelo (5th year); Robert Nericua (4th year); Lemuel Fil Bañez (4th year) and Jim Darrell Ang (3rd year) with Prof. Allenn Lowaton as coach.

Participants during the event were teams from colleges and universities offering BS in Electronics Engineering throughout Northern Mindanao region consisting of provinces of Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental and Camiguin; and cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Ozamis and Marawi.

MSU-IIT and Xavier University will represent the Northern Mindanao region to the National ECE Quiz Show to be held at SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City on December 10, 2015.
