MSU System President, Dr. Macapado A. Muslim, created last Friday the Search Committee for the Chancellorship of MSU-IIT.
The Office of the President issued special Order No. 36 s. 2011 on Jan. 28, 2011 forming the eight-member committee that is tasked to draft a short list of qualified nominees for IIT Chancellor.
The term of current IIT Chancellor, Dr. Marcelo P. Salazar, ends on the last day of March 2011.
Dr. Datumanong A. Sarangani, Executive Vice President of the MSU System, chairs the Search Committee. Vice Chairperson is Dr. Ricardo E. Rotoras, Region X chair of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC).
The other members of the Search Committee are: Dr. Zenaida G. Gersana, Region X Director, Commission on Higher Education (CHED); Prof. Alita E. Openiano, Vice President, MSU-Naawan Faculty Association; Mrs. Emily M. Pascua, President, Iligan Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Engr. David Tauli, Exec. Vice President, MSU Alumni Association; and, Ms Sittie Norhanie H. Lao, President, Supreme Student Council of MSU-Marawi.
The lone committee member coming from MSU-IIT is Dr. Lydie D. Paderanga, IIT Registrar, who was appointed Secretary to the Search Committee.
S.O. #36 tasks the Search Committee to conduct an information drive on the search, receive nominations and application papers, and conduct a thorough and objective screening and evaluation of candidates.
The committee must submit to the University President the results of the search process on or before March 15, 2011.
S.O. #36 also tasked MSU-IIT to “provide all necessary expenses for the Committee.”
Dr. Paderanga said that because of time constraints, the Search Committee has set the deadline for the submission of names of nominees or application papers for the position of IIT Chancellor on Feb. 11, 2011.
Application forms are available at the office of the IIT Registrar.
