SCS partners with SSI in an Industry Immersion to strengthen its Programs

In enhancing the delivery of Information Technology (IT) Education, the School of Computer Studies (SCS) through its Dean, Prof. Alquine Roy F. Taculin has created a sustainable industry linkage with Survey Sampling International (SSI), one of the biggest market research firms in the world.

The linkage involves an industry immersion program that will immerse SCS faculty members in the work and industry practices of SSI Philippines based in Lapu-lapu City, Cebu.

Prof. Lemuel Clark P. Velasco of the Department of Information Technology was sent on a two-month industry immersion in the Professional Services Department of SSI held on April 20 to June 19, 2015. He worked along with the project managers, survey programers and data processors of SSI.

SCS sees the industry immersion program as an effective strategy that will bridge the gap between the demands in IT industry and the academe. The College will incorporate the inputs from the industry immersion in its programs especially in its plan to enhance its BS Information Systems program by offering a track in service management for business process outsourcing.

SSI provides and offers sampling and data collection through new technologies to reach respondents in every mode available.
