The Department of Biological Sciences (DBS) of Mindanao State University Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) to invite two experts from the Russian Academy of Science(RAS) as key speakers during a three-day seminar on November 17-20, 2013 in its quest for knowledge in the advancement of Parasitology and Physiology.
The seminar which was attended by over one hundred participants from different companies and institutions in Visayas and Mindanao had the theme, “Recent Advancements in Parasitology: Its Impact on Man and the Environment”.
The first day of the seminar consisted of a series of lectures on Invertebrate Nematology given by Dr. Sergei V. Spiridonov, as well as GAP junctions and Rhythmical Behaviours given by Dr. Yuri V. Panchin. The succeeding days of the seminar consisted of invertebrate nematode sample collection from selected sites in Iligan City and laboratory work, which yielded promising results.

The visit of the Russian experts ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between MSU-IIT through the DBS and RAS, establishing another international research partnership for the institute. Contributed by KAV Balondo for OC-OPI
