Professor Jinky Bornales, Ph.D, Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension, has been nominated International Consultant for a research project in Polymer Science which project will be based in Lisbon, Portugal.
The project aims to elucidate the conformations of chain polymers in the presence of long range forces between the constituent monomers. Such long-range forces have recently been identified in DNA molecules.
Referees have considered the project “exceptional” and “outstanding.” The Portuguese government agency FCT, gathering researchers from Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science, is sponsoring the project.
Apart from its expected scientific output, the project should stimulate the work of junior researchers at the MSU-IIT.
