Prof. Rolando T. Candidato, Jr. (MS Physics 2010), faculty member of the MSU-IIT Dept. of Physics, won the Outstanding Masters Thesis award (Materials Science Category) in the 2010 Search for Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation in Advanced Science and Technology.
The Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technologies Research and Development (formerly the Philippine Council for Advanced Science and Technology Research and Development) and the Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) presented the award to Candidato.
The awardee received a P60,000.00 cash prize and a plaque of recognition in ceremonies held last December 10, 2010 at the Hotel Intercontinental in Makati City.
Candidato’s thesis is entitled “Synthesis and Characterization of Sol-Gel derived from ZnS and Mn-doped ZnS and their Complexes,” His adviser, Dr. Reynaldo M. Vequizo of the Materials Science Laboratory of the same department, also received a plaque of recognition.
