Amid the annual student intramurals Palakasan, Pop Icon and Commissioner of the National Youth Commission (NYC) Dingdong Dantes visited the Institute on October 29 to receive the 50,000 signatures from Lanao del Sur in support of the “One Million Filipino Youth Voices” campaign.
This campaign targets 1 million signatures as expressions of support from the Filipino youth in solidarity to raise awareness on the effects of increased global temperature in the Earth’s climate.

The pledges that will be gathered all over the country will strengthen the Philippine position to take a firm stand on the issue of climate change during the 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) on Climate Action to be held in Paris, France in December.
A press conference on the issue was held at the Institute’s College of Nursing (CON) Function Hall where Commissioner Dantes was joined by KASAMA President Jahaziel Mark Bajan, DSWD Director Yasmira Naga Pangadapun, and Iligan City Youth Director Sorilie Christine Bacsarpa.
Commissioner Dantes extended the call for support, reaching out to more youths during the Palakasan’s Night of Dances. He invited everyone to join in the pledge of the #nowPH campaign.
Earlier that day, Dantes paid a courtesy call on Chancellor Sukarno D. Tanggol at the Office of the Chancellor. Some Institute officials posed for souvenir photos with the popular actor who was given books and other publications by the Office of Publication & Information.
