Dr. Sukarno D. Tanggol, DPA, is the new Chancellor of the MSU-IIT. The MSU System Board of Regents swore into office the incoming Chancellor last April 18 in Manila.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Tanggol urged the cooperation and support of the Institute constituents towards realizing the IITvision and his own five-year-term agenda.

Dr. Tanggol succeeds Dr. Marcelo P. Salazar, DM, whose second term as Chancellor of the Institute ended last month.

Dr. Tanggol has been a veteran educator in Public Administration having been a faculty member of the College o Public Affairs, MSU-Marawi, and of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, MSU-IIT, since June 1981. His long years of teaching have been matched by various professional achievements, the most notable of which was his stint as Philippine Ambassador to the State of Kuwait from 1999 to 2002.

A consistent scholar, he has published books and numerous articles cited as prominent references in his field.

He earned his Doctor’s degree in Public Administration from the University of the Philippines. Moreover, various research projects and exposure trips abroad have earned for him ample administrative and academic preparation.

Alongside his professional career are civic services that Dr. Tanggol also actively pursues among them in non-government and people’s organizations.

Besides engaging in golf, music, and books, Dr. Tanggol is a family man with six children, who are also all achievers in their chosen fields.
