 MSU-IIT Chancellor Dr. Sukarno D. Tanggol led the groundbreaking ceremony on April 15, 2021 at Hinaplanon, Iligan City to officially start the construction of the 5-storey College of Education (CED) Laboratory Building (Phase III).

Chancellor Tanggol, in his message, thanked the local officials for the support provided to the University, as well as his plans for landscaping the area.

The Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Amelia T. Buan, was also present during the occasion. In her speech, she was grateful that the MSU-IIT Administration has always supported the College of Education in its endeavor to be one of the leading institutions in teacher education.

Moreover, Dr. Buan added that the construction of this new laboratory school “is very important in exploring pedagogical innovations to adapt to the highly evolving teaching methods in the pursuit of achieving quality teaching and learning.”

Prof. Minda C. Sexon, the Principal of the Integrated Developmental School, concluded the program, citing in her closing remarks the importance of changing for the better, and that the present is the time for growth.

The five-storey building is the third phase of construction done in MSU-IIT’s property in Hinaplanon. The first two phases are two other buildings. The first building is nearing its completion while the second building’s construction is ongoing.

The third building will house new classrooms for students of the Integrated Developmental School and various other facilities.

Present during the ceremony were Chancellor Sukarno D. Tanggol, Vice Chancellor for Administrative and Finance Polaus M. Bari, Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development Gaudencio C. Petalcorin Jr., Vice Chancellor for Student Services Marie Joy D. Banawa, CED Dean Amelia T. Buan, Integrated Developmental School Principal Minda C. Sexon, and other MSU-IIT officials.
