Some faculty members of MSU-IIT, College of Education, in collaboration with the Department of Education, Iligan City Division, are pursuing a classroom-based action research through the Iligan Community of Learning Action Research (ICoLAR) Project. This endeavor aims to reflect and facilitate effective ICT integration in the classroom and determine its impact on students’ progress and achievement. The action researches will be focused on the enhancement of curriculum and instruction and promotion of a student-centered classroom.

ICoLAR Project was initiated in accordance with the Intel Teach Community of Learning Grant Agreement between the Foundation for Information Technology Education and Development (FIT-ED), Inc. and MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology. The Research Team for ICoLAR Project is spearheaded by Dr. Myrna E. Lahoylahoy (MSU-IIT, CED Team) and Prof. Gaudelia Larot and Dr. Eusebio Aguanta (DepEd Team), together with the following members: Dr. Ruben L. Abucayon, Prof. Amelia T. Buan, Prof. Monera Salic-Hairulla, Prof. Sotero O. Malayao, Prof. Joy R. Magsayo, Prof. Ellen L. Jarantilla, Ms. Vita P. Sinconiegue, Ms. Vanessa S. Balisco, Mr. Rey A. Moreover, the team was allocated a budget of Php. 60,000 for the whole duration of the activities which shall conclude in the showcasing and printing of action researches by the month of December, 2009.

With this, the value of action research among teachers shall hopefully be inculcated and appreciated and thereby enkindle in them the enthusiasm and passion for investigating effective practices in using ICT’s in order to solve perennial instructional problems in the classroom.
