The Arts and Social Sciences and the BS Psychology programs of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) now banner a Level III status after their re-accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered College and Universities (AACCUP).
The second survey visit conducted last December 19-20, 2011 at the MSU-IIT affirmed the “very high ratings” for both programs.
The Arts and Social Sciences and BS Psychology programs both got a grand mean score of 4.31 out of a perfect 5. Programs in the areas of Instruction, Extension, and Faculty Development garnered a 4.25 rating while Library got a grade of 4.5.
These marks indicate that the college far exceeded the minimum area mean rating required for a Level III status which only requires a minimum grand mean of 4.00.
Dean Prof. Nora A. Clar, who shared this success with the collaboration of the faculty and staff, has transformed the College into a Center for Excellence. In its mandate, the College is tasked to promote a peaceful and sustainable society developing globally competent, socially responsible, culturally sensitive, and humanistic scholars and professionals.
The AACCUP team was headed by its Executive Director Dr. Manuel T. Corpus, also former President of CSU and the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University. The team that evaluated the BS Psychology program was headed by Dr. Hilda C. Montaño, Associate Professor and the Associate Dean of the College of Education of the Western Visayas State Univeristy, La Paz, Iloilo City.
