It was done through the Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM) MSU-IIT Chapter led by its Director, Dr. Marilou F. Siton-Nanaman and the German Development Service (DED) through Ms. Kerstin Proebstel, German Peace Building Expert. The Department of Professional Education (DPRE) of the College of Education headed by Dr. Rizalina G. Gomez, initiated and requested for the conduct of the said seminar-workshop as part of their advocacy for promoting multicultural and peace education in teaching and in dealing with daily situations in a culturally diverse community.
The said activity focused on developing a better understanding of the still unresolved Mindanao conflict and the basic elements which are significant in attaining personal and interpersonal peace. Among the resource speakers were Prof. Rudy B. Rodil, Dr. Marilou F. Siton-Nanaman, Ms. Kerstin Proebstel, Prof. Saturnina Rodil, Prof. Darwin J. Manubag, and Ms. Monalinda E. Doro. Faculty members from the different departments of the College of Education participated in the event.
