In its 38th Commencement Exercises held on April 4, 2008 at the Institute Gymnasium, MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology conferred 1,452 graduates of various academic disciplines.

Batch 2008 graduates was headed by Jessa Monalee C. Mampao, BS Biology with a weighted grade of 1.2293, and was bestowed an academic distinction as Magna Cum Laude.  There were other 19 graduates who received the academic distinction as Magna Cum Laude, 103 as Cum Laude, 6 with High Honors and 31 with Honors.

In this batch, three graduates earned their doctoral degrees:  Bernadette J. Nanual, and Mark Anthony J. Torres for Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, and Dwight F. Zabala for Doctor of Sustainable Development Studies.

This achievement of the graduates will serve as the spark plug of whatever endeavor they will pursue in life. Just as the Acting President of the Mindanao State University said in his message to the graduates “we can all work together in evolving a better world by collectively striving to find appropriate solutions to the complex socio-economic and political problems that are pervasive in our local communities, country and the world as a whole”.  Likewise, the Chancellor of the Institute spelled out “we are confident that we have done our best in molding you into the kind of graduates we envision you to be, equipping you with the competencies, capabilities and qualities that will prepare you for the challenges ahead.” 

In the Health Sciences, the Nursing Program had its first batch of 90 graduates affiliated under the College of Health Sciences of the Mindanao State University. The graduates were conferred with their degree during the MSU’s 43rd Commencement Exercises at MSU Marawi City on April 2, 2008.

There were other programs who recorded for having their first batch of graduates:  BS Engineering Technology Management with forty-seven (47), BS Industrial Automation and Mechatronics with twenty-one (21), Two-Year Diploma in Chemical Technology with three (3), and Two-Year Diploma in Industrial Automation Maintenance Technology with fifteen (15).  All these graduates were from the School of Engineering Technology.

The Institute likewise conferred 128 graduates of the secondary education level during the 62nd Commencement Exercises of the Integrated Developmental School held on March 28, 2008,
