MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology announces the full adoption of its revised vision, mission, and core values through Special Order No. 01403-IIT, Series of 2020 issued today.
The new vision, mission, and values herald a new visionary enterprise for a better future of MSU-IIT.
The statements reflect several months of work by the Office of the Chancellor and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, which included input from the Vice Chancellors of the Institute and members of the Academic Planning Committee.
During the first Process Audit Workshop held in April 2019, Chancellor Sukarno D. Tanggol expounded on the need to revise the university’s vision, mission, and core values that would guide MSU-IIT to reach greater heights and to keep in step with the progress in the regions and in the world.
“As MSU-IIT charts its future, the vision and mission and the core values serve as reference points for the faculty, staff, and students and to reflect the aspirations of the university as a whole,” Chancellor Tanggol said.
Drafting the statements was done during the second Process Audit Workshop which was held on December 6-8, 2019. Formulation of the statements included a review on what needed to be done and on the pressing issues confronting the Institute’s academic agenda, research and extension, financial and administrative processes, international reputation and accreditation, university planning and evaluation, internationalization strategies, and student services.
The statements were submitted and presented to the Mindanao State University System Board of Regents for approval during its 252nd meeting held on September 30, 2020 via Zoom teleconferencing.
According to Chancellor Tanggol, MSU-IIT’s vision is rooted in the individual and the community; that the university is for the community, that MSU-IIT will lead Mindanao to the rest of the country and to the world.
He added that MSU-IIT’s mission will always be to provide quality education for the youth in Mindanao.
Two new core values are added to the five existing ones:
Transparency. Accessibility to information and openness across all levels
Participation: Involving everyone in decision-making and policy-making
Based on BOR Resolution No. 236, Series 2020, the current Vision, Mission, and Core Values are:
