Director Alongan A. Mangorsi, (Department of Extension, OVCRE), Dr. Nimfa L. Bracamonte (CASS), and Dr. Rebecca M. Alcuizar (CED) bagged major awards after they presented their papers at the Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementers, Inc. X’s (PAEPI X) 1st Mindanao Regional Extension Congress held last September 10-12, 2012 at the Mindanao University of Science and Technology in Cagayan de Oro City.

 specialists win at regional confab

Bracamonte won 1st place (Best Extension Paper in Health and Sanitation Category) with her paper “Alternative Learning System for the Marginalized Bajau in Tambacan, Iligan City. Alcuizar also won 1st place (Best Extension Paper in Economic and Education category) with her paper “Strengthening Rogongon Community through Health and Education,” while Mangorsi won 2nd Best Extension Paper in the same category with his paper “Adopt a Community: Developing Nunungan as a Model Municipality.”

PAEPI X is a regional organization on Extension programs having in its roster senior extension specialists from Higher Education Institutions in Region 10: Bukidnon State University (BSU), Central Mindanao University (CMU), Capitol University, SRLSI-LDCU, Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC), Lourdes College, Mountain View College, Misamis University, St. Michael’s College, the MSU-IIT, and host MUST.

The conference with the theme “Research-Based Extension Program towards Attainment of Millennium Development Goals,” evaluated the Best Extension Papers on three major categories: Health Sanitation, Environment Conservation, and Economic and Education. The winning papers were judged by Dr. Juanito Demetrio (CHED Region X), Dr. Judith Intong (Director of NOMCARRD, CMU, Musuan, Bukidnon), and Mr. Foster Anayron.
