MSU-IIT turned in a performance worthy of its stature as one of the best engineering schools in the country by dominating the top 10 – even occupying the first four slots – of the list of 2016 Metallurgical Engineer Licensure Examination passers released yesterday.
IIT metallurgical engineering graduate Aliza Marie Padilla Salces tops this year’s board exam with a score of 87.85%.
In last year’s licensure exam, Marian Nida Sagarino Lumungsod of IIT takes the number 2 spot.
Salces leads six other MSU-IIT graduates who make it to the top 10 of the October 11 – 13 licensure exam that results to 58 new metallurgical engineers out of a total of 71 examinees from three schools – MSU-IIT, UP-Diliman, and Mapua Institute of Technology-Manila.
“I am happy but not really surprised that MSU-IIT is on top,” says Chancellor Sukarno D. Tanggol when reached for comment.
“Our College of Engineering and Technology is really at par with the best in the country,” Tanggol adds.
The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th spots in the top 10 list are taken respectively by IIT graduates Jeraldine Pasaol Lastam (87.30%), Maryrose Joy Torres Aparece (85.65%), and Mark Ianne Ledesma Nunez (85.50%).
Maria Theresa Reserva Raganas (83.55%) lands in sixth place while Stephen John Jamora Sanchez (82.60%) and Artric Jeano Valde Morilla (82.45%) bring up the rear at 9th and 10th spots.
Sanchez ties with two graduates from UP-Diliman at the no. 9 spot.
UP-Diliman also takes No. 5, 7, and 8 places in the list of passers of the exam that was given by the Board of Metallurgical Engineering in Manila and Davao.
MSU-IIT posts a 76.09% passing rate in this year’s exam with 35 examinees making it out of the total 46 who took the exam.
