ICCF 2012
Looking Back at Last Year’s Celebration of a Decade of Fun and Computing
Last year marked a significant milestone in the history of ICCF, the Iligan City Computing Fair, hosted by the School of Computer Studies of IIT. It celebrated its 10th year of gathering high school and college students, teachers and professionals in the Visayas and Mindanao areas to compete, learn and have fun in computing. Last year’s ICCF featured several surprises in addition to its yearly line-up of competitions, programs and events. The event was held last September 19-21, 2012 in the MSU-IIT Campus.
The Opening Program started with a parade that led to the gym. Honored guests, sponsors and participants from other schools came to event led by the SCS Dean Prof. Ernesto E. Empig. Activities for the ICCF 2010 included competitions, seminars, ICT exhibits, technical seminars and city tours. Students, teachers and professionals alike interacted through these activities, showcasing and sharing their skills.
One of the surprises that spiced up the ICCF 2012 was the presence of one unexpected character who hosted the quiz show— Harry Potter! a.k.a Sir Ken Rothwyn Mira of the Computer Science Department. Even more surprises came when select faculty of the School of Computer Studies graced the closing program in their cosplay ensemble. Students were excited to meet Obito(Sir Erik Sala), Sir Kakashi(Sir Mark Manlimos) and Jericho from Ghost Fighter(Sir Ken Mira).
City Tours ended the ICCF Event for guests who wanted to explore Iligan. The ICCF overall was a mix of healthy competitions, learning experiences and memories worth reminiscing.
