The MSU-IIT received favorable evaluations to four research proposals submitted to the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Health Research and Development (NorMinCoHRD) for this consortium’s 2010-2011 Research Fund.

This consortium’s Research Management Committee (RMC) and Ethics Review Committee (ERC) upgraded to Level 2 evaluation the proposals pending work on revisions and reformatting. The en banc meeting was held at Liceo de Cagayan University last March 23, 2010.

The proposals were:
“Indigenous Knowledge on Medicinal Plants and Animals for Maternal and Child Health Care among the Maranaos, Higaunons, and Mamanuas in Regions X and XIII: A Codification for Indigenous Knowledge Management” (Prof. Nimfa L. Bracamonte, Ph.D)

“Biochemical Characterization and Commercialization of Some Ethno-proven Medicinal Plants in the Philippines” (Prof. Marvelisa. L. Carmona, Ph.D)

“Children’s Health in Situations of Internal Armed Conflict: Perspectives of Children and Their Strategies to Maintain Psychological, Emotional, and Physical Wellness” (Prof. L. C. Sevidal Castro, Ph.D); and,

Five proposals were also submitted from the College of Business Administration and Accountancy, namely: “Incidence of Child Labor: Effects on the Health and Wellbeing of Children in Region X” (Prof. Rizalia Y. Teves); “A Balance Scorecard for Health Services in Key Health Districts in Region X: Data and Capacity Requirements and Mechanics for Implementation and Institutionalization” (Prof. Milagros Narido); “Health Services Utilization and Customer Satisfaction in the Oroquieta and Calamba District Health Zones in Region X” (Prof. Pamela Resurreccion); “Assessment of RA 9184: Government Procurement Act in Key Health Districts in Region X, Philippines” (Prof. Wilfreda Loable); “LGU Utilization and Functionality of Health Information for Decision Making in the Iligan Health District and in the Oroquieta Interlocal Health Zones” (Prof. Alita T. Roxas, Ph.D).

These proposals help realize the mandate of the Institute to provide the manpower needs to accelerate the industrial growth of Iligan and those of specific industries and environs.
