The Culture and the Arts – the proposed 5th pillar of the MSU-IIT’s Vision – appeared as subject of learning experiences in the recent Asia – Europe Meeting Life-long Learning Network (ASEM LLL) in Manila.

Dr. Steven Patrick C. Fernandez, D.F.A., author of the proposed Institute of Cultural Resource Management and Development (ICRMD), presented the plan for the Philippines’ first educational center that will offer culture and arts studies. Colleagues in the committee observe that the MSU-IIT plan could very well represent the Philippine Cultural Education Program (PCEP) with its composite interconnections among our resources of knowledge.

Fernandez was invited as resource person by the National Committee on Cultural Education (NCCEd) of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). He joined LLL education experts from Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Romania, Russia, Estonia, Finland, China, Malaysia, India, and the Philippines.

This Philippine meeting was hosted by the Ateneo Professional Schools and the NCCA.

Part of Fernandez’s task is to help develop the concept paper from where the future PCEP will be anchored on collaborating with local colleagues in the cultural education sector.

The ASEM LLL is based in Copenhagen, Denmark where results of these research collaborations will be discussed in May 2012.
