The MSU-IIT College of Science and Mathematics and the Niigata University (NU) have firmed up their collaboration in the Sciences and Mathematics with the recent visit of two professors from Japan.

NU Professors Hitoshi Miyata (Department of Physics) and Eiichi Isogai (Department of Mathematics) met with the Department Chairpersons and some faculty members of the CSM at Mallburry Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City last March 14 and 15.

The meeting discussed details regarding the opportunity of a graduate student of MSU-IIT studying for a doctorate degree to earn a second doctorate degree from the NU.

Initiated in 1997 through the efforts of Dr. Angelina Bacala & Prof. Miyata, the collaboration between these universities was formalized by former MSU-IIT Chancellor Dr. Camar Umpa and former NU Dean of Faculty of Science Prof. Kiyomi Ikeda. Consequently, several exchanges between the faculty and students have been accomplished since the signing 14 years ago of the agreement that has boosted a dynamic research environment in the College.
