The Department of Science and Mathematics Education (DSME) of the College of Education (CED) held its Strategic Planning Workshop last August 9-11, 2010 at JM Family Garden, Baroy, Lanao del Norte.
Participating were DSME faculty members including CED Dean Prof. Esmar N. Sedurifa and six ASESMA officers representing the different courses offered by the department.
The workshop proposed SMART goals, curriculum and instruction concerns, student services, and budget requirements with activities that will be conducted within a timeframe. The workshop is part of efforts to accomplish objectives, as recommended by the recent AACCUP team visit, towards the college’s Level III accreditation.
Prof Sedurifa explains that attaining Level III status through a well-crafted plan of activities will also sustain the COE status as Center of Excellence which was recently awarded by the Commission on Higher Education.
Meanwhile, the CED School of Graduate Studies (SGS) is also set to submit itself for AACCUP accreditation. During the workshop for this purpose, a group led Dr. Myrna E. Lahoylahoy, SGS for CED Coordinator, produced a plan of action for accreditation.
