“Magaling talaga ang MSU-IIT” (MSU-IIT is really good). Thus commented Senator Edgardo Angara when he visited the MSU-IIT booth during the “Expo Science 2011.”

MSU-IIT participated in the 1st Philippine Science, Technology and Engineering Exposition at the SMX Convention Center in Metro Manila last July 27 – 30, 2011.
The exposition organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to celebrate the 53rd National Science and Technology Week exhibited innovations in Research & Development. Exhibitors were a cross-section of different sectors – the academe, government and non-government institutions, and the business community.
The research outputs of the MSU-IIT, the only participating school outside of the NCR, confirmed its research outputs and capabilities to the DOST officials and the public.
President Benigno C. Aquino III opened the program and cited in his keynote address some of DOST’s identified High Impact Technology Solutions (HITS). These solutions are seen to resolve pressing problems, boost economic development, and strengthen national competitiveness. The President announced that a two-kilometer test track monorail system developed by the DOST’s Metals Industry Research and Development, one of the identified HITS products, will be constructed in the U.P. Diliman campus.
Six MSU-IIT personnel were sent to showcase the IIT’s research results, innovations, and to entertain queries: M. Esperanza P. Cruz, OVCRE (Team Leader), Dr. Arnold C. Alguno, Dante D. Dinawanao, Prof. Joel Barrera, Remegildo A. Payusan, and Gloria Fernando.
This year’s theme “Nasa Siyensiya ang Pag-asa” echoes the conviction of the DOST to harness Science and Technology to spur the country towards national development.
