The College of Education (CED) joined Webinar on Intel Teach Thinking Tools last October 26, 2011. The activity was one of the highlights of the National Seminar-Workshop in Science and Mathematics Education (theme: Nurturing Young Minds to Build their Future: Opportunities for Science and Mathematics Education in the K+12 Curriculum) organized by the UP-NISMED.
Ms. Vicki Costa, Mr. Dan Morris, and Mr. Glen Westbroek, Senior Intel Trainers and seasoned educators in the United States, served as resource persons. They presented the K-12 Learning Tools including Visual Ranking, Seeing Reason, and Showing Evidence. They also shared details on how they have successfully used each of the tools in their cases.
Ms. Theresa I. Maves, Worldwide K-12 and Social Media Manager of Intel Corporation, introduced the speakers.
Webinar stands for Web-based seminar, a presentation, lecture, or workshop that is transmitted over the Web. Collaborative and interactive, and which includes polling and question-and-answer sessions allowing the interaction between audience and presenter, this innovation using computers and the internet presents speakers in seminars from anywhere in the globe. It also allows participants to listen to lectures without the expensive travelling costs and risks while still promoting engaging sessions.
Students and faculty members of the MSU-IIT, among other participating schools like the Ateneo de Davao University and the participants of the National Seminar-Workshop in Science and Mathematics Education at the UP-NISMED Auditorium, attended the Webinar which was opened free to all interested participants.
Prof. Amelia T. Buan, CED faculty and Intel Teach Senior Trainer, who coordinated with the organizers at the UP-NISMED Conference, facilitated the Webinar at the CED Amphitheater.
