Continuing its mission to provide services its community, the College of Education attended the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing of the Life Project for the Youth (LP4Y) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Iligan at the Iligan City Jail, Tipanoy on February 25, 2020.

The MOA was signed by Jail Superintendent Arnold F. Buenacos, Regional Director of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Iligan City, and Ms. Clemence de Larauze, the Coordinator of LP4Y Philippines.

As one of the partner institutions of LP4Y, CED provides English training to the persons deprived of liberty (PDL) to improve their competence in English communication. This training has already started a year ago where lessons are conducted once a year in the LP4Y training and development center.

“This project hopes to give a second chance to PDL and to fight exclusion. Without the BJMP, this project will not exist”, de Larauze said.

“Rest assured of the support of BJMP Region 10 because we are partners”, Buenacosa replied. He added that Personality Development training should also be taught to the PDLs to enhance their personality and character.

Other partners also include College of Business Administration and Accountancy and College of Nursing from MSU-IIT, TESDA, St. Micheal’s College and Iligan City Local Government Unit.

The event ended with renewed commitment of the different partner institutions to strengthen its support to the mission of LP4Y.
