My Teacher My Hero

The College of Education and MSU-IIT, along with the world support this year’s Teachers’ Month Campaign in their launching ceremony on September 18, 2009 at CED Amphitheater, with the theme “My Teacher, My Hero”. This was made possible through the effort of the College of Education-Executive Council (CED-EC) headed by their governor, Melvin Magsayo, in collaboration with their adviser, Dr. Adelfa C. Silor, and Dr. Ruben L. Abucayon, a 2007 Metrobank Outstanding Teacher awardee, who initially conveyed for the school’s participation in the said activity.

A Teachers’ Month Campaign (TMC) was first conceived in the Philippines in July 2008 by the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI), De La Salle Philipines (DLSP), Philippine Business for Education (PBEd), and Campaigns Social Response (CSR), with the special participation of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the support of key business institutions. Once again, for this year it was launched during the Metrobank’s 47th anniversary celebration last September 4, 2009 which was highlighted by the awarding of this year’s Metrobank Foundation Search for Outstanding Teachers (SOT). It will then culminate on October 5, 2009 in the celebration of the World Teachers’ Day.

In support to this celebration, everyone is invited to offer words of gratitude to at least one teacher who has made a difference in his or her life by writing on the “banner of gratitude for teachers”, writing a letter or sending a card or gift to his/her teacher and letting others know, by sending a copy of their thank-you note to http://www.teachersday.ph/. Moreover, here in the institute, the students will be inviting all teachers in Iligan City to witness the “Tribute to Teachers” on October 5, at the MSU-IIT gym, in the culmination of the World Teachers’ Day.
