As part of its ongoing “ICT Integration in Education” program, the College of Education (CED) once again partnered with the Department of Education-Iligan City Division in a workshop on ICT Multimedia Integration for Teaching and Learning on April 29-30, 2014.

Held at the CED ICT Laboratory, the workshop is the first of the several trainings that CED is planning to offer as a Center of Excellence for Teacher Education and one of UNESCO’s Resource Distribution and Training Centers (RDTC) in the Philippines.
About 20 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) coordinators from both elementary and secondary levels of DepEd participated in the workshop. These participants, as envisioned by the Dep Ed are in turn expected to conduct a similar workshop to their colleagues in their respective schools during the second quarter of this year.

The participants acquired a broader, more refined knowledge of ICT after successfully completing the UNESCO Bangkok E-Learning Series on ICT Education. They also identified the appropriate entry points for UNESCO resources and successfully integrated them in their lesson plans.
During the closing program the participants received 7 UNESCO Resource CDs, Certificates of completion for completing the two modules of UNESCO E-Learning Series on ICT in Education, and certificates of participation. Awards were also given to the lesson plans (1 for elementary and 1 for secondary) that integrated multimedia in the most relevant and creative way.

The two-day activity was organized by the CED ICT Team with the following as resource persons and facilitators: Dr. Ruben L. Abucayon, Prof. Shelanee Theresa P. Ruales, Mr. Osuardo A. Pabatang, Ms. Vita S. Caparoso, Ms. Roxan A. Consolacion, Prof. Joy R. Magsayo, Ms. Vanessa B. Zabala and Mr. Jun Karren V. Caparoso. Mr. Joel Q. Galibo of the Maria Cristina National High School also served as facilitator. The workshop was managed by Ms. Avril Joy R. Ramayan.
