Mr. Daryl Joseph P. Cantong presented his undergraduate paper “Cultural Diversity in Malaysia and the Philippines” at the 2nd International Conference of the Institute of Language, Art and Culture (ILAC) at the Suan Dusit Rajabhat University, Bangkok, Thailand last August 22-23, 2012.

Cantong is a senior at the Dept. of History, College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS).

The conference gathered researchers, students, and educators from all over the world to contribute knowledge on research activities, descriptive presentations, and case studies, a collation of the best practices in the theory and practice of culture and language studies in ASEAN countries.

Cantong was the only Filipino among the 40 presenters-participants in the conference that was organized around the theme “Cultural and Linguistic Diversity in ASEAN.”

Renowned speakers Dr. Tim Curtis, Chief of Culture Unit at UNESCO Bangkok Regional Office, Prof. Andy Kirkpatrick of the Department of Languages and Linguistics at Griffith University, and Richard Watson Todd, Associate Professor in Applied Linguistics at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi in Bangkok, Thailand keynoted the conference.
