Representatives of 12 organizations from Iligan City attended the Round Table Discussion on Collaborative Research Projects last February 4 at the Institute Boardroom.

Organized by the College of Arts and Social Sciences Accreditation Task Force (Area V – Research) headed by Dr. L.C. Sevidal-Castro, the discussion presented the research agenda of selected government and non-government agencies in Iligan City and Region X.

Resource persons from NEDA, DOST, DepEd, EcoWeb, DTI, Dept. of Agriculture, DOH, and the Sangguniang Panlunsod presented their best practices in the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects as inputs in helping refine the research thrusts of the CASS.

Also sharing the research agenda of the MSU-IIT, Dr. Franco S. Teves, Director of Research of the OVCRE, opened grounds for possible areas of collaboration in research.

In the discussion, Chancellor Dr. Marcelo P. Salazar emphasized the collaborative nature of research. He stressed that the Institute has invested much on research to improve the Institute’s contributions to international journals.

The panel of reactors included Dr. Lorna Flores, Dr. Hilton Aguja, Dr. Darwisa Baguio, Dr. Faith Miguel, and Dr. Rosario Dizon.

Appreciative of the initiatives of the members of Area V, CASS Dean Prof. Nora A. Clar encouraged the faculty of CASS to engage in more research projects.
