Dean Julita W. Bokingo of theCollege of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) and Chairperson Sheevun Di O. Guliman of the Department of Accountancy presented their paper entitled “Rapid Impact Assessment of Disaster on Sources of Livelihood and Employment Opportunities (Post Typhoon Sendong Conditions in Iligan City)” during the 2013 Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asian Growth Area (BIMP EAGA) Conference at the A&A Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, Philippines on December 16-17,2013.

The conference was spearheaded by Palawan State University (PSU) and Center for Strategic Policy and Governance (CSPG) and co-organized by Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) with BIMP-EAGA Unit for Tourism Development.
The conference provided an opportunity for paper and poster presentations for professors, researchers and practitioners from different disciplines. A total of 87 papers were read and 28 poster presentations during the conference. Seven of these papers were from International schools like Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Stockholm Environment Institute, Sweden and Wageningen University of Netherlands, other institutions in the country and representatives from Victoria University in Australia.
For next year’s conference, the venue will be in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia and the host Institution UMS expressed its intention that MSU-IIT be the co host for the 2014 BIMP-EAGA Conference.
This proposed endeavor under the coordination of Dean Bokingo will further strengthen the existing linkages with UMS which has already an existing Memorandum of Agreement with MSU-IIT. Contributed news for OC-OPI.
