Lina T. Codilla, a Ph.D. graduate in Biology last March won the Best Paper Presenter and the Best in Powerpoint Presentation in the recently concluded World Research Festival 2012 held at the Marco Polo Hotel in Cebu City on August 22-25.

Codilla’s paper which she co-authored with her adviser, Dr. Ephrime B. Metillo of the Department of Biological Sciences, College of Science and Mathematics was entitled, “Phytotoxic and Antimitotic Potential of Philippines Chromolaena odorata (L.) King and Robinson Leaf Extracts”.
On full CHEd scholarship as a doctorate student at the MSU-IIT’s CSM, Codilla had focused on the importance of the invasive plant species Chromolaena odorata, commonly known in Cebuano as hagonoy in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Codilla’s adviser, Metillo said that she intends to continue her study on the economic potential and the many aspects of the biology of hagonoy in the years to come.
Codilla, a faculty member of the JH Cerilles Memorial State, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur has returned to her sending institution with the rank of Professor.
The World Research Festival in Cebu was sponsored by the International Association of Multidisciplinary Research (IAMURE).
