In line with the objective of MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology, the Office of Sports, Physical Fitness, and Recreation was created to provide its constituents a regular program that will develop their physical well-being, promote and preserve their vitality, strengthen character and discipline through physical activity.

The Office of Sports, Physical Fitness and Recreation is mandated by the MSU Board of Regents to perform the following functions:

  1. Recommend and implement approved programs and other projects for the development and promotion of sports, physical fitness and recreation;
  2. Recommend and implement income-generating projects related to sports, physical fitness and recreation;
  3. Implement and administer the sports scholarship program of the Institute, and
  4. Administer the use of sports, physical fitness and recreation facilities of the Institute including the multi-purpose gymnasium.

Specifically, the Office is tasked to perform the following:

 

  1. Provide physical fitness programs through weight training, body building, aerobics, slimnastics, karate and other forms of fitness;
  2. Select and train potential athletes from among the bonafide  students of the Institute;
  3. Promote active participation in competitive sports;
  4. Be responsible for the development and implementation of recreational programs for IIT constituents; and
  5. Perform other functions as may be directed by the Chancellor.

Specifically, the Office is tasked to perform the following:

    • Reduce Risk of Heart Disease
    • Increase Muscle Tone
    • Increase Energy
    • Strengthen Bones
    • Reduce Stress

Athletic Scholarship

Classification
  • Full Grantee a student who will receive monthly stipend ( grants-in-aid), free  tuition fees, free laboratory fees and other fees except computer fee, student publication fee, student government fee and insurance fee.

    Who Are To Become Full Grantees?

    1. Members with GPA of 2.75 or better for a regular academic load, as prescribed in the curriculum, in the preceding semester will be considered as full grantee with a monthly stipend of PhP 400.00.
    2. Members with GPA of 2.75 or better for an academic load in the preceding semester less than the prescribed load in the curriculum, but not less than 12 units, will be considered as full grantee with a monthly stipend of PhP 300.00 only.
  • Partial Grantee a student who will not receive monthly stipend but will enjoy free tuition fees, free laboratory fees and other fees except computer fee, student publication fee, student government fee and insurance fee.

    Who Are To Become Partial Grantees?

    1. Members with GPA less than 2.75 but with no failing grade for an academic load of at least 12 units in the preceding semester will be considered as Partial grantee.
Requirements (General)
  • Must be a bonafide student of MSU-IIT carrying at least 12 academic units except for graduating student.
  • With good personal character and conduct.
  • Passed the required try-outs conducted by the coach.
  • Regular attendance during training.
  • Participated in a regional level of competition. In the absence of such participation, an athlete must have demonstrated an athletic ability comparable if not better than those who competed in the regional meet.
  • Must be recommended by the coach.
  • Must satisfy the conditions stipulated under BOR Res. No. 26, s. 1993.

Students, faculty members and staff of the Institute are free to avail of the sports facilities provided that a request is made prior to its use. For non-MSU-IIT users, a written request for at least one week before its use   is required including payment of fees.
