Accountancy students rank 6th in inter-collegiate meet

The MSU-IIT Team grabbed the 6th spot, tied with the National University of Singapore, after advancing to the tough final round in the recent 14th Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition (ICFC) last October 22, 2012 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in Manila.

The ICFC conducted by the Financial Executive Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) and high-end companies JPMorgan Chase & Co., Asian Institute of Management, and the Bangko Sentral involves the country’s best colleges and universities.

Trailing the MSU-IIT were universities from Guam and Thailand. The Institute was the highest-placed Mindanao university in the competition that was won by the University of the Philippines (Diliman), Ateneo de Manila, and the College of St. Benild La Salle.

The ICFC is regarded as the country’s toughest and most prestigious academic competition in economics, banking, and finance. It develops education in Finance to set it with global standards.

The MSU-IIT team of BS Accountancy Students were Sheldon Mark Z. Albo, Kathleen Rose Pazo, and Sittie Haynah Ibrahim, coached by Prof. Sheevun Di O. Guliman, CPA.

Eighty-six universities and colleges nationwide participated in the elimination round last September 21, 2012 competing in six major areas. Winners in each area automatically qualified for the final round vying for 14 slots.
