The MSU-IIT BS Accountancy team 2013 headed by its coach, Prof. Sheevun Di O. Guliman and composed of Loriane R. Desoloc, Alice Quennie Marie Ruaza, and Al-Nashier S. Tanggor took fifth place in the recently concluded 15th Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition (ICFC) held at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in Manila on October 21, 2013.

The ICFC promotes and raises finance education to global standards among colleges and universities. It is the country’s most prestigious academic competition in economics, banking and finance.

The ICFC’s elimination round was simultaneously organized on September 20, 2013 in six major areas and was participated in by more than 80 universities and colleges nationwide. Only the top 20 schools advanced to the Final Round that took place on October 21, 2013.

The final round started at around 11:00 in the morning and ended at around 7:30 in the evening with 50 difficult questions divided into four rounds.

The MSU-IIT Team, the only competing school from Mindanao, took the fifth place ahead of international schools like the Singapore Management University, Chulalongkorn University and Assumption University of Thailand and the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman of Malaysia. From the Philippines, the top three schools that competed in the ICFC were the University of the Philippines Diliman, Ateneo de Manila University and the Colegio de San Juan de Letran.
