“Genetically superior batch of trainees.” This was how Dr. Manuel T. Corpuz, regarded as the father of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), described the one hundred and twenty participants to the Accreditors Training at the Cavite State University last May 3 to 6.
The four-day training which included a simulated workshop capped by a final examination produced an in-depth understanding of the nature and process of accreditation.
Participants, many of them holders of graduate and post-graduate degrees, came from state colleges and universities from around the country.

Seven faculty members of the MSU-IIT joined the training including (College of Arts and Social Sciences) Prof. Darwin J. Manubag, Dr. Mary Ann L. Sandoval, and Prof. Venus R. Parmisana; (School of Computer Sciences) Prof. Ernesto E. Empig, Prof. Rabby Q. Lavilles, and Dr. Lomesindo T. Caparida; and, (College of Business Administration and Accountancy) Prof. Sheevun Di O. Dr. Brigida A. Roscom, Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development and the University Accreditation Coordinator, also a trustee and auditor of the agency, lectured on how to rate documents shown in the Program Performance Profile (PPP).
Dr. Roscom was instrumental in shaping the conduct of the accreditation of the College of Education and the CASS in the agency’s third visit last March. Both these colleges have successfully qualified to apply for a Level III accreditation within sight of the next evaluation set this year.
As fringe activities to the training, dinner and socials including the witnessing of the famous Cavite fire-walking rituals engaged the participants who will return to their bases raring to start work.
