“I congratulate the administration for keeping MSU-IIT a jewel of the SUCs [State Universities and Colleges] in Mindanao and the Philippines…for being instrumental in producing excellent students and graduates,” thus declared Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito during the MSU-IIT’s 44th Charter Day Program on July 12, 2012 at the Institute Gymnasium.
Ejercito was the guest during the program and awarding ceremonies of the charter celebrations.
The son of former President Joseph Estrada and representative of the lone district of San Juan City, impressed of the Institute’s performance, added that it will be up to our officials to decide on what to do with these scholarships. He also expressed the hope that he will be able to grant more scholarships in the following years.

Present during the program were MSU System administrators President Macapado A. Muslim, MSU-IIT Chancellor Sukarno D. Tanggol, the Vice Chancellors, and academic heads.
Tanggol, however, added that, according to President Muslim, 20 scholarships will go to the MSU main campus, 20 to MSU-IIT, and the 10 to MSU-Buug, Zamboanga del Sur.
Ejercito, a staunch supporter of tertiary education, challenged the administrators, faculty and students to value education as the real weapon against poverty.

He emphasized: “Let us look at education as an investment, not as an expense… Ito ang tunay na paraan para labanan ang kahirapan.” (Photos: Lourd Greggory Crisol)
