Prof. Nathaniel C. Tarranza and Engr. Kenny B. Cantila of the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering, presented their paper “Increasing the Structural Efficiency of Precast Reinforced Concrete Slab Strip in Bending by Notching at Tension Zone” during the joint 9th Asia Pacific Structural Engineering and Construction Conference (APSEC ) and 8th Asean Civil Engineering Conference (ACEC) held on November 3-5, 2015 at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Kuala Lumpur.
Tarranza also chaired one of the morning sessions of the said conference.
The conference provided a venue for dissemination of research outputs, new technologies and advancements in civil engineering.
About 125 papers were presented during the conference attended by participants from ASEAN countries, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia, India, Pakistan, Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
The event is one of the regional conferences sponsored by AUN/SEED-Net, a network of ASEAN and Japanese universities which includes MSU-IIT, University of the Philippines, and De La Salle University as member institutions.
AUN/SEED-Net is supported by the Japanese government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Tarranza’s attendance to the conference was sponsored by AUN/SEED-Net and Cantila’s by the ERDT.
